You guys.. I have 544 days to learn how to cook. Really though, my cooking skills need to improve! For those of you that are new around here, I am fortunate enough to still live with my parents, aka the best roommates ever! With living at home still, my mom normally does the cooking for dinners. Therefore, I am not the most skilled chef, even though I watch alllllll of the food network shows! lol Anyways, even though Jackson would be cool with me bringing home Chipotle every night, I thought I should start learning how to actually make things. So, for Christmas I asked for Cravings by Chrissy Teigen! & now, here we are.. recipe no. 1 complete and it was a success! Welcome to my journey on how to become a wife! {literally made myself laugh out loud on that one!}
Recipe No. 1: John’s Chili
You can find this recipe on page 148!
Once I received Cravings, I really did not know where to start after the introduction pages. Chrissy has recipes for breakfast to party time bites. After flipping through every.single.page.. I decided that the Frito Pie Bar would be a good place to start. Since I was cooking for 7 people, I ditched the mini frito bags and just served the chili in bowls with the frito’s on top. It worked out great! Also, in our house, we eat cinnamon rolls with chili, so I of course had to make those too!
For a beginner chef, making this chili was really easy. The most annoying part was peeling the garlic! Are you supposed to peel garlic? I assumed so! If you have an easy way to peel them, please help a sister out! The recipe was INSANELY easy to follow and I found all of my products at Walmart.
