Hi friiiiends! Happy June. Haven’t been able to talk to you since we made the change, so helllllo! š
This past week was insane. Guys, I was so busy that I am pretty sure all I did was work and sleep. No lie! I was definitely living for the weekend, which was justĀ asĀ busy but with a little more fun! Friday night and all day Saturday were spent preparing for our marriage at a retreat for our church. We are Catholic, so each couple has to attend a retreat weekend and then take individual classes with a Priest or Deacon at their home parish! If you missed our love story post, click here!
Sunday was the funday, and what this post is all about! I teamed up with some of my blogger besties, Shelbi, Ember, and Gina, for an Omaha Staycation! First off, thank you SO much to the Float Center, Hotel Deco, Stirnella, and Luvbird boutique for hosting us!
Staycations can end up saving youĀ a tonĀ of cash while still having a great getaway with your sweets. I can definitely say that Jack and I will for sure be doing a staycation together in the near future! To make your staycation feel like an actual getaway, make sure all of the places you go to are new to you! You know that restaurant you always want to try, but don’t make it? Add it to your staycation list!
First, we started our afternoon at the Float Center!
Float Center
When I heard of the Float Center, my first reaction was confusion. Why would someone want to just float? Ohh how wrong I was y’all. I am officially a fan of floating! It is a form of therapy and supposed to help with your well-being and give you a healthy lifestyle. For those of you that are still confused, here is how it works.
You first can decide if you want a cabin or a pod. I chose the cabin because it was a bigger space, and I was not sure how I would react to a smaller area. You float in water and epsom salt. You areĀ completely weightless, the feeling is crazy. There is a soft sound that is playing with a soothing light. You can actually shut off the music and light if that is something you like!
Something that I thought was interesting is the water temperature. It is kept at skin temperature. Throughout my float, I did get hot in my face a few times. I just floated over to the door and let some cooler air in and then I was fine.
One of the big benefits of floating is just how relaxed it makes you. It is known to reduce stress and anxiety, speed up muscle recovery, improve performance, improve sleep patterns, reduce symptoms of pstd, and many more.Ā The brochure I snagged explains it best as it “allows the body’s systems to focus on restoring and healing themselves. Floating relieves pressure on joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments.”
At the beginning of my float, I was really nervous because I hadĀ no idea what to think. It is peaceful, quiet, and relaxing. But in a world in which we move at 100 mph, what was I going to do for 90 minutes. And guess what..
I made it the whole time. I prayed the whole time. Definitely dosed out, but once I came back, I started again.
I felt closer to God. It was an amazing experience.
Would I do it again? Definitely.
For first time floaters, you can sign up for the intro float package and experience it three times for an amazing price! Head over to the FAQ page for a more detailed Q & A!
Hotel Deco
After Floating, we headed to Hotel Deco for our stay and to get ready for the night. Anyone else obsessed with hotel rooms that have wood floors? Don’t even care if they are “fake wood”. They are so elegant and you guessed it, clean! This hotel is designed to the max, and gives you an old Omaha feel, in the best way.
Once we were ready for dinner, we headed down to the Monarch for happy hour! Each of us gals got a spring cocktail, and I went with the Morning Sunrise. Now when it comes to beverages, I am not adventurous. I keep it simple with my captain and diet! However, I looooved the Morning Sunrise. Do not ask me what was in it because it was fancy, and I had no idea what any of the words meant besides “pineapple”! lol š
Something I love about Hotel DecoĀ is their car service! They offer rides to and from the hotel within 3 miles, which is pretty much anywhere downtown! They took us to and from dinner, and if you have ever tried to park downtown, you know how helpful that is!
Stirnella
Stirnella first opened it’s doors in February 2017 in the new and upcoming Blackstone District. Chef Matthew Moser creates seasonal menus, so each dining experience is unique!
We started our meal with theĀ burrata, which is apple butter, squash, and grilled peasant bread. You guys… it is toooo die for. Omg. There are no words on how good this was. & yes, I understand that is not very helpful. The best way I can describe the dish is when you eat something and just pause for a second because it is so good. That is what the burrata is all about!
Our second one bird dish was theĀ risotto, which isĀ beets, celery root, parmigiano, truffle, and bruleed telaggio. Fancy right? I have a deep burningĀ hatredĀ towards beets. To me, they taste like dirt. Therefore, I was a little worried on how I would like the risotto. But y’all, it was my favorite dish of the night. You cannot really taste the beets, at least to me you can’t so that was a positive. This dish was inhaled by all of us and we probably could of gotten a second one! ha!
For our main course, we all went with theĀ steak & frites, aĀ flat Iron steak with bordelaise, frites, and garlic chips. I am sure you already know what I am going to say again.. bomb.com! Each steak was cooked to perfection, and you obviously cannot go wrong with fries!
We finished our meal with theĀ gooey butter barĀ {banana curd, nutella ice cream, shortbread crumble}Ā and theĀ chocolate pot de creme {burnt merengue, raspberry preserves, graham cracker streusel}. Each were yummy, however I liked the gooey butter bar best! The banana is not overwhelming, and the ice cream.. pause worthy.
We then finished our night at the Red Lion Lounge, which is just right around the corner under theĀ Colonial Hotel Apartments. In the words of Gina, it is just swanky. Dark lights {is that a thing?} red velvet seats.. all of the vibes that you are needing.
Luvbird Boutique
Making Me Blush Midi Dress – $60
Besides the eating and sleeping, you have to make sure your outfit is on point for your staycation! We teamed up with Luvbird Bouitque, located in Aksarben, for our looks. I picked out this adorable midi blush dress with pockets! Wearing a small, and it fit well. Size up if you are blessed on top because of the buttons, they pull a little. I love wearing blush because it goes with every skin tone and can be worn for all occasions. Make sure to visit Luvbird Boutique next time you are looking for a fab piece!
Now, off to plan the next staycation… or getaway! š
